“Nice Women Don’t Want the Vote”: a travelling exhibition from The Manitoba Museum

October 04 to November 29, 2018

“Nice Women Don’t Want the Vote” was a phrase attributed to Manitoba’s Premier Sir Rodmond Roblin during a heated exchange with suffragist Nellie McClung. Now it’s the title of an exhibit developed by The Manitoba Museum which outlines the historical context of the Suffragist movement and commemorates the 100th anniversary of (most) women in Manitoba winning the right to vote. It provides an opportunity for Canadians to deepen their knowledge of voting and women’s rights, and the measures we still need to take in the fight for justice and freedom for all.
